Bacterial infections of the skin and soft tissue, throat and tonsils, middle ear, sinuses, chest and urinary tract. It is also used to prevent infection around some surgical procedures.

Like penicillins, cephradine blocks the enzymes that stitch together the bacterial cell wall. The wall stays incomplete, the bacterium cannot withstand its own internal pressure, and it breaks apart.

Diarrhoea, nausea, stomach upset and rash. Thrush can follow a course. Dizziness and headache are less common.

Tell the prescriber about any allergy to penicillin or another cephalosporin, since reactions can cross over between them. Report severe, watery or bloody diarrhoea rather than treating it yourself. The dose is reduced in kidney disease. Complete the course even after you feel better. It is a prescription medicine in Pakistan.
