Short-term relief of cold and flu symptoms and sinus congestion where a blocked nose comes with headache, facial pain, sore throat, aches or fever.

Two problems, two actions. Ibuprofen blocks the COX enzymes so the prostaglandins behind pain, swelling and fever fall away. Pseudoephedrine tightens the swollen blood vessels lining the nose and sinuses, shrinking the lining so air can pass and mucus can drain.

Trouble sleeping, restlessness or feeling jittery, a dry mouth, a faster heartbeat, and the stomach upset that ibuprofen can cause.

Not suitable if you have high blood pressure, heart disease, an overactive thyroid, glaucoma, diabetes or prostate problems, since pseudoephedrine can worsen all of them. Do not take it within two weeks of an MAOI antidepressant, do not take another NSAID or decongestant alongside it, and do not use it for more than a few days. Avoid the evening dose if it keeps you awake. It is a prescription medicine in Pakistan.
